Occasionally you need to pause and then unpause an open spot. Here's how:
When you add spots to your account they are posted live to your profile page or, if you opt-in to offer automation while creating the spot, offered to families on your waitlist. While the built-in Kinside automation is one of your biggest assets in streamlining enrollment, there are a few situations where tapping the breaks can be helpful. Let's take a look at a few scenarios where this might be the case and walk through the steps needed to pause or unpause an open spot.
- No automated offers: If you have a spot that is not opted into automated offers and you need to Unpublish or Remove spot, click here.
- Automated offers: If you have a spot that is opted into automated offers and you want to Pause or Unpause it, follow the instructions below.
How to pause a spot (automated offers)
- Navigate to Programs in your left-hand menu. Locate the spot you would like to pause.
- Click the ellipsis (the three dots) to the right of the spot. This is also known as an overflow menu.
- With the drop down open, locate and click Pause offers.
- Click Pause offers in the confirmation pop-up. This will pause any automated offers related to this spot from going out.
How to unpause a spot
- Navigate to the Programs tab in the left-hand menu
- Locate the seat you would like to unpause.
- Click the ellipsis (the three dots) to the right of the spot you'd like to unpause.
- With the drop-down menu open, click Resume offers.
- This will open a confirmation window, in which you'll need to select Resume offers again to resume offers to relevant families on your waitlist.
When would I pause a spot?
There are several different scenarios where you might choose to pause a spot. While the following list is not exhaustive, it will help you understand when this feature might come in handy.
Scenario 1: Direct Offer To A Specific Family
You just added a spot and got a pop-up that says, "Thank you for posting your seat to Kinside. You have a child on your waitlist, {Child's Name}, who is a match for this spot. We will automatically send an offer to this family after 10 minutes - in case you need to update this spot or want to hold it for a different family." You had a different family in mind for the spot and would like to make a direct offer to them instead. Pausing the spot, in this case, would disable the automatic offer and allow you more than a 10-minute window to select a family for your direct offer.
Scenario 2: Close To Maximum Capacity
At the beginning of the month, you had 6 openings in your toddler room but, you've hit an enrollment spike and things are filling up. Five of your openings have been filled and, with the influx of new children, you're not sure if you want to fill that last spot. Pausing the spot, in this case, would disable the spot matching automation and hide the spot from your profile page until you're sure you want to offer it.
Scenario 3: Staffing Changes
You just got word that one of your preschool teachers is moving to Alaska. While you're excited for her you know that this affects your teacher-to-child ratio and you can't fill those last three spots until you hire her replacement. Pausing the spots, in this case, would disable the spot matching automation and hide the spot from your profile page until you're ready to offer them again.
How to unpublish a spot
If your spot is not set for automated offers and you simply want to hide it from your profile (not delete it), follow the steps below.
- Navigate to your Programs page.
- Click the ellipsis (the three dots) to the right of the spot. This is also known as an overflow menu.
- With the drop down open, locate and click Unpublish spot.
- Click "Yes" in the confirmation pop-up. This will remove the spot from your profile page without deleting it.
How to publish a spot
- Navigate to the Programs tab in the left-hand menu
- Locate the seat you would like to unpause.
- Click the ellipsis (the three dots) to the right of the spot you'd like to unpause.
- With the drop-down menu open, click Publish to profile.
- This will open a confirmation window. Select Publish to re-publish the spot on your profile so that families know you have availability.
Now perhaps you realize you don't need this spot at all and you're ready to delete it. Follow the steps below to do so.
How to remove a spot
- Navigate to your Programs page.
- Locate the seat you would like to remove.
- Click the ellipsis (the three dots) to the right of the spot. This is also known as an overflow menu.
- With the drop down open, locate and click Remove spot.
- A confirmation window will open in which you'll need to select a reason for removing the spot.
- If you select Other, you'll need to input a reason in the text box. Once you're set, click Remove spot.
Note: There is no restoring a spot once it has been removed, so make sure you're ready to delete this info entirely.
